Feud between Mulgrew and Ryan

Image
#StarTrek ~ I'm so disappointed in Kate Mulgrew for being cross with Jeri Ryan. Ryan was used by the patriarchy to insert a 'babe' (yes, I personally heard them use this word in a documentary) into the show. Ryan did an admirable job of ignoring the myriad leering references to her appearance on the show by men from so many species. Mulgrew should know that you can't be upset with women for doing what they need to do. Don't infantilise women by saying they should say No. Their choice is their choice. And if you don't like it, suck it.

Hinterland (series) with eyebrows

Image
I am loving it. The photography is spectacular. The framing of the movement is like an actor. So slight. Almost imperceptible, and yet planned so carefully, chock-full with content.  Trivia alert. However, the eyebrows of the lead character are driving me mad. Why do I alway feel eyebrows are over acting. They should have a show where all the eyebrows can go and act in. They need their own series.  Actors, in general, seem to be chosen on their left-handedness, and their ability to slant their eyebrows up in the center. I think this is not an expression the people in my country can do. It's genetic I guess. So when I when I see it, it seems extreme. An overly overt expression. Annoying. Strange.  It's a tidbitty observation.

Homeland (Series 2011-)

Image
I've had enough of Homeland. The lead woman is portrayed as a madwoman in the attic, a sadwoman on the heath, a badwoman on the bed. And the men all around are calm and focused and collected. Her behaviour would never be tolerated in real life. Never. She would be relegated to some desk job. She's a loose cannon who can't follow orders, popping Lithium. At least John McClane and Dirty Harry weren't popping Lithium.  I wonder what Hollywood could be wanting to imply about the emotionality of women in the workplace? Does anyone want to give me insight into what happened with her pregnancy - did they let her have the baby or did she dutifully abort it, or it self-aborted, or she carried it to term and became a housewife in the woods?

Review: Big Little Lies (Mini-Series 2017)

🍒 #DumpTrump #Feminism ~ We might have to enslave some of the Americans too. But nah. Not Trump and his supporters. I wouldn't want them even as slaves. Yucky. If IMDB had fractions, it would be a single fraction off. Fantabulous. IMDB Big Little Lies (2017)  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3920596 Actors: Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman Creator: David E. Kelley

Review: And Then There Were None (Mini-Series 2015)

🍒 I vote we enslave the British and make them produce mini-serieses and leave all those other little fiddlies they are busy with. Use a little military intervention to focus their attentions where they are needed. Who's with me! IMDB And Then There Were None (2015)  Director: George Pollock Actors: Hugh O'Brian, Shirley Eaton

Review: Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce (Series 2014)

Janeane Garafalo out of Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce (2014-)? I'm out of here. Seriously? And we're left, again, with sycophantic people-pleasers. Loved Garafalo because she shows how those SexInTheCity types can exist in the same world with ordinary women. I guess that will never be true. Ah well.

Review: Expanse (Series 2015)

#Feminism ~ So the male characters get called on their surnames, and the black woman, Nagata, gets called on her first name - that ends on an 'i'. Not very subtle back-handed insult. IMDB Expanse (Series 2015)  Actors: Cas Anvar, Wes Chatham

Review: Seinfeld (Series 1989-1998)

There's actually some pretty sinister predatory scenes where Elaine is intimidated into compliance or evasion. Scary to think I didn't notice that as a young girl .  # Feminism IMDB Seinfeld Actors: Jerry Seinfeld, Michael Richards x

Review: The Newsroom (Series 2012)

#OMG. Aaron Sorkin just put responsibility into a man's mouth. "I can't be without a job, I'm responsible for my children's tuition." I'm in love, or I came, or something. So refreshing to not have a man talking about which hole is his favorite or how many seconds it takes him to steal or kill. Oh. Heaven. Thanks, Sorkin. That was a good one. #Feminism lives in men. AND another man said, "It's really OK, I understand." Oh wow. Oh super wow. x 855. A lot. IMDB The Newsroom (Series 2012)  Actors: Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer
