Patriarchs workplace bum in the butter

Image
Dear feminist scholars You have not spoken to the concerns of the patriarchs – women abandoning their careers for family care, elderly care, and sick children. Women abandon their posts due to menstrual cramps and pregnancy. The perception that women are ‘fragile’ and victims of mental health – disinformation campaigns run by the patriarchy claim this. Women leave their posts because they have been raped and harassed. Women cannot focus on their work because the harassment prevents them from doing their work.  The patriarchs want someone on their post no matter what and will harass them out of the post so they don’t have to deal with these issues. The ability of women to lead is severely compromised due to men’s behaviour. They won’t stop. They see it as an effective way to prevent women from entering the workplace and having another place to judge their asses. They homophilically play all day with other men and are free from the demands of women. Women's mere act of demanding is c...

William Hadaway was an old mean bastard

Image
In 1896, when William Hadaway was abusing his penis-power by patenting the first electrical stove, I'll bet he didn't walk down to the kitchen where his wife was sweating while tethered to the not-electrical stove and ask her what she would contribute to his design. She would have said, "A timer that switches the stove off so that I can go to a meeting down at Pankhurst's house with the other suffragettes." In fact, I suspect Hadaway intentionally left the timer off to keep her tethered. Fucker. #historicalrevisionism

The master's tools

Image
Clitorises come in many forms. I read about women in a part of Africa, back in the day, when women couldn’t own land, have a bank account, a house, a garden. They also could not have a clitoris. If they had a clitoris, they could not get married, because no man would want them. So, if your mother didn’t excise your clitoris, she doomed you to no land, no bank account, no house, no garden, no man to feed you. Essential joys-choices are taken from us. Nowadays, our clitorises are ‘you have to be the secretary’, ‘you have to wear dresses’, ‘you have to wear high-heeled shoes’, ‘you have to give me a blowjob’. The currency changes appearance. The currency used to be clitorises, now it’s heels. Audre Lorde says you can’t use the master’s tools, and I think some women can’t recognise the tools. ... Bus tickets

I attend these diversity dialogues. And I am the worst dialoguer. Mainly because I am not the girl to describe-the-problem. Going over and over stuff and exploring feelings over and over is just not me. I went to a psychologist once for many months and was annoyed that I had suspended my disbelief in the process and found that psychologists are trained to describe-the-problem using variables from a pathologising formulaic book that rarely gets updated (DSM). I can think of a few other examples of books that rarely get updated. Problem describers. I love The Dreaming . A part of the dialogue is imagining what the world would look like without that problem. People try to imagine the world, smell it, breathe it, see it. They are so tentative, so hesitant, so bound to reality. People of privilege often don’t know words like ‘the Geni coefficient’ or ‘the Copper T’. I don’t mean to use these obscure terms, I hate people who try to baffle others and I rephrase if another opportunit...

Predatory Romance in Blade Runner (1986)

Image
To all the people who know that Blade Runner is my favourite movie of all time. I was 19 when I saw this movie, and I was mindbound (like footbinding, see Mary Daly). The patriarchal narrative enveloped/s me. Even after 30 years of my own feminism. The patriarchy is insidious and systemic, and I have to work daily to find the nooks and crannies it lurks in. I was so in love with Harrison Ford. He was an embodiment of the men in the Mills & Boon I was reading. Craggy, bad-tempered, masculine. Ooh. And scifi was new to me. New on film to everyone. It was shiny, it was intellectual, it was engaging, it was Mills & Boon antidote. From when I was five (or that’s when I remember), I have been protesting the advances of men. I still did not see Sean Young protest. When I started to feel horny when I was young, I saw that women were NEVER allowed to want sex, NEVER ask for fingers in your vagina, NEVER ask for hands to touch your breasts, NEVER ask for a kiss, NEVER...

Anti-Abortion as capitalist agenda

Image
I am often shocked by how people romanticize the past and the things that made the past what it is. Women who never have orgasms. Women who are ok with fellow women having their clitorises excised. Women who are no more than indentured servants indentured to their children. Slaves while men are getting their dick wet, having their food on the table at the same time daily, and free child care.  All courtesy of the virginity cult and women giving them a free pass to all women's bodies all the time, and then giggling as other women maintain the virginity cult with the word the men use - slut.  While the men close the clinics so women have no access to contraception. They're slut shamed at the clinics, so Russian roulette with men's lies is preferable. Not to mention how the shame culture works, that if you're raped it's your fault, if you believe the lies my friends are told so that men ~ fathers, uncles, brothers, strangers ~  can add their Virgin scalps ...

You (2018)

Never mind, You (2018) is palling. "If we don't have trust we have nothing." Bullshit. Just another American show setting up all the relationship fallacies and crazinesses and trotting them out one by one to make a stony-faced man look mad. Throw in a couple of murders and now he's really vilified. And she is too for a slew of man-fucking and so many many many apologies, at least two per episode. He doesn't apologise. He just forgives her and forgives her so now she's the bad guy. Argh. Incel-making material. And her name does not end on an ee. I had high hopes.

Die Skaap on Clifton Beach

It's that the focus is on the cruelty and not on what was done to the Black people. Cruelty to animals is a daily thing - factory farming, abattoirs. What about the Black people? When a painting is burned or a university wall is damaged the White people see only that, from their armchairs. What about the ISSUES. We slavishly read the headlines and get cross about what the media tells us to be cross about. And we don't even know WHY the sheep was there. This comment I am writing is what the article says. M-e-n-a-r-e-t-r-a-s-h is the same. IT'S A WORD. You can't ban words. Like 'capitalism'. If I want to talk about capitalism I need that word. If I want to talk about the negative effects of the m-e-n-a-r-e-t-r-a-s-h word, I need the word. Instead Facebook bans me on an algorithm. They don't look at the problem and say, Gee, I am an asshole. They think that because they don't beat their wives on Wednesdays that they get a n-o-t-a-l-l-m-e-n pass. They don...

Silence

Silence quotas. Men speak too much. White people speak too much. By bringing in laws of how much silence is required you will never notice when silence is offered. We cannot be healed by words alone. #MenAreTrash #WhitePeopleAreTrash

The Hunting Ground (2015) (documentary)

WATCH (1h26m) YouTube version of the documentary WATCH YouTube playlist of and about the 2015 documentary A documentary about the rapes being ignored by American universities. The rapes are being ignored by both the universities and the local university-educated justice representatives who benefit from the university. The documentary shows the systemic way in which the universities are covering up the rapes because they are selling a product - education and sports tickets and TV - that would be tarnished by rape convictions or expulsions. There is a list in the documentary, see the video College Sexual Assault Statistics, in which they list roughly 200 rapes per university - yearly, and roughly 2 expulsions per rape - yearly. (Most expulsions are on a temporary basis, where the rapist is re-enrolled on appeal. Some rapists are assigned a term paper as punishment on how to meet women, or fined $75, and other overtly not-punishment punishments.) At the end of the statistics sequenc...

Recidivism. A moral quagmire

Image
I was astonished at this video  because it didn't depict the patriarchal narrative of woman-as-victim, slinking off AS IF to hide her shame (this is how men hear our silence, and other women, and the next victim who then feels she must be silent and not tell HER mother, "what if I get blamed for soliciting that sexual attention" [when I was under 12] [in my personal view I believe the age of consent is stretching it at 16]). (Yes we want sex when we are under 16, but that doesn't give anyone the right to take advantage of our inability to make adult decisions about what to do with our bodies.) What has this got to do with the public groping of an adult woman? That attitude right there is where the thinking is wrong. No girl, no woman, is there for you to act upon at any time without her express, enthusiastic, informed, uncoerced consent. No debate.  AND THEN look at the very last moment of this video. #Aargh His friends embrace him back into the fold, here...

Mad Men (2007-2015) ~ Incel fodder

Irritated that Sally smiles after telling Glenn that Rolo tried to force her. Rolo did try to force her. Coercion is force, definitely not consent. "You made us drive out here, you have to give me something in return." But the smile implies that she got him into trouble when he didn't deserve it. Fuck that.

#MenAreTrash as performance

[ Transvestite - Someone who likes to dress up in clothes of the opposite gender. The intention is to 'pass', to remain inconspicuous. Trans  - Someone who has been born into a body that doesn't reflect their inside gender. The intention is to disrupt binary ideas of gender and/or to change to the other gender and 'pass'. Passing is not a bad thing, necessarily. Some people don't want to draw attention to themselves, don't want conflict, don't want to be an activist every day. Drag Queens - Someone who performs the opposite gender. It's fun, it's sassy, it's political, it's ironic, it's challenging. It's a fun way to do politics. Of course, within any of these groups, individuals may vary.] So Drag Queens are a protest-solidarity-defiant-awakening performance of the thing straight men fear the most about homosexuality - a woman that comes onto them who is not even trying to pass, not even trying to conform to the femininity ...
